    Could yoga be considered psychosomatic medicine?

    I have found grueling aerobic exercise to be excellent for stress, but have heard great things about yoga.

    Yoga isn’t psychosomatic medicine. It belongs in the psychology, behavioral interventions section.

    It is highly useful as a way to help reduce stress, which in turn helps calm down an overactive immune system.

    Thus it is an intervention that can help for psychosomatic illnesses involving stress and excessive immune system activity – such as arthritis, asthma, heart disease, etc.

Yoga is a physical discipline; it uses the body and breathing to develop self-awareness and mental clarity.According to Yoga philosophy, by cleansing one`s mind and controlling one`s thought processes one can return to that primeval state.

    Yoga is often prescribed to help heal various injuries, including repetitive strain injuries, knee and back injuries, pulled hamstrings, even minor skin burns.I also agree that yoga is useful to reduce stress.
