What do such drugs such as Doxazosin do for men, I was reading on another forum about ED, reason I asked is I have this same type of thing. Here is the thread and I was wondering if it is legit.

Since this thread has grown to many pages I want to give here the latest update on modulating the adrenergic activity in a way to enhance erections especially when Phosphodiesterase 5 Inhibitors such as Viagra, Cialis and Levitra are not working well on their own.

We’ve found that combining a PDE5i with a drug which decrease the Norepinephrine constricting effect on the Corpus Cavernosum Penis lead to a greater effect of the PDE5i and a more consistent erection.

The preferred drugs to achieve this result are of the Alpha Blockers class (eg. phentolamine, doxazosin, alfuzosin, tamsulosin, silodosin).

Uroselective alphablockers (tamsulosin, silodosin, alfuzosin) which have shown to act primarly in the urogenital tract when given at low doses have produced the better enhancements with the least side effects but also broad AB can achieve good results if dosed properly.

Among the uroselective AB the ones acting mostly on the Alpha-1A sub receptor (tamsulosin, silodosin) seem to produce the best rigidity when combined with a PDE5i.

The AB is started at the minimum dose and increased gradually over several weeks to achieve tolerance to any blood pressure effect. Tolerance to pressure effects must be acquired before introducing a PDE5i. The AB is maintained at the greater dose not causing side effects.

The PDE5i is best introduced at 1/4 to 1/2 the normal dose to asses any interaction effect on blood pressure.

A daily administration of both the AB and the PDE5i has lead to better results and better tolerance of the drugs with less side effects.

Credits go to Dr. Giles Brindley which invented intracavernosal therapy and used Alphablockers as the first agents to obtain an erection in impotent men and to Dr. Steven A. Kaplan which used oral Doxazosin in combination with standard intracavernosal injections of PGE1 in patient non responding to the prostaglandin alone.

These works have inspired the first trials with oral PDE5i and oral alphablockers.

Any feedback on the results achieved with this combo is welcome.
