Here is my last week blood work.
My endo is putting me on TRT. But I think I might also have problems with cortisol, thyroid and human growth hormon levels. What do you think?Last week blood work:
Test/ Result / References/
…
Cortisol/ 10.9 / 4.2 – 38.4 mcg/dl/
…Results with a * are either low or out of range.
I can’t speak for the rest of it but an AM Cortisol (assuming this is a morning sample) of 10.9 is pretty low. It should be closer to 18-20.
July 6, 2010 at 6:24 pm #4302rglrMemberI found what I was looking for. The term is “thermoneutral zone”. This is the temperature where your body is losing heat at the same rate it is producing heat. I assume this is the least stressful temperature for you at the given moment.
From what I see online the range is quoted anywhere from 72 F – 86 F. The temperature for an individual varies according to many factors such as: metabolism, sex, clothing, humidity level, body mass, activity level, time of day,…

Wow! Tons of lectures Thanks!
There’s even a 6-week course including the homework.January 23, 2010 at 7:41 pm #4128rglrMemberI appreciate your comments. For the last few days I have been pulling myself into the present moment throughout the day. I’ve noticed how tense my body is when I’m thinking about all the stuff I have to or want to do. Usually my shoulders are pulled up or my fist is clenched around something. From what I read pulling yourself into the present will get easier and hopefully will become the norm…hopefully.
A funny quote from Jon Kabat-Zinn: “Next time you’re in the shower; Check to see if you’re in the shower” 🙂January 23, 2010 at 1:21 am #4127rglrMember@Downthelanetheycome 2526 wrote:
Hi by mindfulness do you mean mindfulness meditating? Someone with the problems you describe would surely benefit from relaxation techniques like mindfulness meditation. Along with yoga breath I try to do it every day.
yes, exactly. they talk about meditation, yoga and some other techniques to reduce stress. can you elaborate on your experience with it? they say that even just becoming aware of the present moment 10-15 times a day can help but it’s all new and strange to me.

Oral temperature is an unreliable measure of a person’s metabolism because of the high frequency of sinus infections, oral infections, allergies, and upper respiratory infections which affect a person with hypothyroidism. The presence of these conditions will raise the oral temperature above what represents metabolism. When monitoring temperature to determine metabolism (and hence thyroid function), the armpit or axillary temperature is the better temperature to obtain.

There is a lot of anecdotal evidence that marijuana alleviates the symptoms of many health problems- anxiety, depression, chronic pain, insomnia,…
What is marijuana’s mechanism of action? What hormones and neurotransmitters does it affect and how?

August 3, 2009 at 12:04 pm #3037rglrMemberOk, thanks. I believe this was just after eating supper. Maybe digestion had an effect. Although I often feel short of breath and find myself taking deep breaths to get that ‘satisfied’ feeling. Maybe I’m just plain out of shape, it has been a while since I’ve been able to exercise regularly.
