Pete,
I can’t speak to any of your issues except to say that the digestive system is so connected to how your body runs. It sounds like you know that already. There is a proven diet that speaks exactly to that issue. It is called the GAPS diet. That stands for Gut and Psychology Syndrome. You can probably find the book at your library but can also find alot of info about it online. So when your digestive tract gets damaged by antibiotics, food etc then all systems become affected. The digestive tract must heal before you are to recover. You may have many nutritional deficiencies because you are not able to absorb your food properly. And toxins that normally would exit the body are absorbed into the body because the lining of your digestive tract is not healthy. Once you have recoverd using the GAPS diet then you can intoduce nutirent dense foods as in the book “Nourishing Traditions” by Sally Fallon that Dr. M recommends. A good article to read is on the Weston A Price Foundation website. Use their search box for “Moods and the Immune System”. The first part of the article may seem irrelevant but keep reading and it may shed some light on your problems and it will suggest a possible therapy. Good luck to you!
You are exactly right about how important the digestive system is. If isn’t working correctly, I don’t think you can ever get healthy. Thanks for the information to look into. I will check it out.
However, I don’t think my digestive tract will recover fully by just following this diet. I think I will first have to identify what is causing problems in my GI tract, then fix that and then go from there. Following the four r’s of functional medicine so to speak. Remove, repair, reinoculate, and replace. However that sounds easier than it looks. I first have to identify what is causing me problems and that might be a little difficult. I did one stool sample that showed a possible candida problem. And am waiting for results from another one coming back this week. Along with a good vitamin test and heavy metal test and others.
Do you have any experience or know about the things I mentioned above?

I have a question. If I was to fly out to see him how long would it take to complete everything. He’s in California right? I know the initial appointment is 2 hours. I have a bunch of labs, but if he was to order more how long would it take? Or would I make initial visit he orders tests and then treats me online or over the phone. I will only be out there for maybe a week. And also will he treat and order labs without going through my doctor? I called the lab place and they said he could just fax the labwork to them and they would send the results to him.
Also I need to make an appointment and I can’t find a phone number.
Can someone please pm me a number to get a hold of Dr. Mariano? I can’t find it.
I am not positive how Dr. M treats his patients who are out of state, but if I had to speculate it would be that since he is your doctor, he can order any tests that you need and then get the results and you go over them with him on the phone. I am currently working with an out of state Doc and that’s how they do it and seems like most other docs treating patients this way do it like this.
He might even be able to order your labs before you even show up for the first appointment, that way you have a jump on things, but I am not sure.
In regards to the phone number, I have been trying to contact him via the number on this website which is 1-831-375-6655. I have tried faxing him and leaving message last week and have not heard back yet. I am assuming he is out of town or very busy.
I too though am trying to get ahold of him and would appreciate it if someone could pm me another number to reach him at or the number that they use to get ahold of him. I really need to speak with asap as my health is in pretty bad shape and would be very grateful if someone could help me out.

Pete,
Any line of communication will do just give me a heads up that’s all. You should be approaching that time. With the amount of influx of people I can not spend as much time on the phone but i want to reassure you quality of service will not affected. More so my goal is to reassure the person that we feel confident in our line of action and explain why so they understand. Your case is one of the most delicate cases due to extra variables which due to HIPPA I can not or will not discuss. When you read my post they just provide information not any specific information of the patient. To understand what I do is i monitor 3 boards, handle my own clients in my business while dealing with Dr O. The amount of time I spend in just the past month with talking with about health issues would probably be a total loss of about 1500 bucks a week. That does not include emails back and forth.Thank you for reassuring me and I know that am I am in very good hands with you guys. I can not tell you how good it makes me feel to know that I am on the road to recovery and that it will be done the right way. I will give you a shout in a few weeks to schedule the blood tests.

Your probably going to uncover a hypothyroidism when next round of test are given.
With your TSH as high as it was. The speculation will be that by given you cortef and going slowly will reveal that low adrenal over prolong peroid of time has shown you to have a deficiency of cortisol resulting decreased thyroid signallin (low tissue thyroid causing an increase in TSH). Your Dr is being cautious and doing the right thing before going full bore. The next step is look at blood work in relationship to cortisol reaction to other hormones. I have several people in your same boat and they experienced the same thing. The next round of test reveals lowered TSH, DHEA, and higher T levels, lowered thyroid levels. After the second round of blood work thyroid is implemented and then cortisol is increased accordingly. Please do remember that after being through the ringer for so long you have to understand the Dr this going against him and we understand this. We work fast and swift but also in cautious pattern according to medical saftey guidelines. We know you want to feel better but do remember this has been going on for months so we know your frustration, but it is better to go slow and steady knowing what medication is really doing to other hormones. Please also remember that you also have other issues going on that are more variables that have to be taken in consideration. If my experience shows after the next round of test the picture will be much more clearer. So all those months and months of questions being unanswered will finally be. Just think if you came to us off the bat months could have not been wasted. I noted to you 4 weeks to please contact me to notify your time to get blood drawn. I can not be responible knowing when its time for a patients blood work when we have over several people we are tracking. Simple email or text would set the wheels in motion. Thanks for the reply Shawn. I feel a big sigh of relief after reading your post. I now have a good understanding of why we have to take it slow in my case.
Just to clarify one thing, you do want me to email or text you around the 4 week mark to have my blood drawn right. I think that is what you said, but just wanted to make sure.
