Can small doses of hc be useful for someone with adrenal problems.

i know the normal amount to take is 20mg, but i wondered what 2.5mg doses will do to you if given at certain times.

you see i have been doing an experiment with 2.5mg doses and i have concluded that i only need hc after 4pm approx. if i give it to myself at lunch or in the morning i actually feel a negative effect.

my adrenal profile shows i have normal cortisol in the morning, but it then tanks to be bottom of the range for the rest of the day.

this is ongoing and i will update how i get on.

When using the salvia profile when indicated low in the evening supplementing low dosages of isocort or HC can help over come this. I see this pattern in people that work out in the afternoon or late evening because they burn through their levels leaving them depleted and norepinpherine running rampant to compensate for the low cortisol levels. When administered at proper times it can be highly therapeutic with good clinical responses.

Doing very well at the moment. for the last 2 days i have just taken 2.5mg a day at 4pm.

i am glad to hear targeted doses of Hc do make a difference.

i will update how i go on.

What your doing is a band-aid you need to find out what in your life your doing that is stressing your adrenals or as you go on it will get worse. And you will end up needing more. If taking this low dose helps you the every doing some thing like in this link 2x’s a day will help you more then the 2.5 dose of HC.

Hi Marsaday! I just wanted to mention that I, too, have been using targeted cortisone- in the form of isocort. I have been doing this for 2 years and have not needed to increase my doses. I have needed this type of adrenal support while I fixed my nutrient deficiencies- now that I am close to them being optimized, I am finding that I am forgetting some of my doses of isocort. I do believe that as the deficiencies are remedied, there is much less strain on the adrenals. It has taken a long time to fix everything- lots of sex hormone stuff from menopause- but I am slowly getting there and needing less adrenal support. Slowly bringing hormones and nutritional deficiencies back into alignment has resulted in less stress on my adrenals. I don’t feel that I used a band aid, as it was necessary to to support my adrenals while I worked on everything else. It worked for me!

    Very well said
Find the hormonal or metabolic imbalance then support these imbalance with (meds/natural methods) while improving one’s lifestyle, sleep hygiene, and back filling it with proper nutrients. If a person follows these rules there success for recovery to regain not just health, but wellness is greatly improved.

i have no idea what is stressing me. i have thought about this for ages and i just do not know. i have a nice life, but for some reason my adrenals dont work too well after lunch time and later in the day. i am now treating my thyroid with levoT.

i took my hc dose today and i actually feel very tired after taking it. this time it has made things worse for me.

i have been working physically today and felt great, but after taking the hc at 4.30pm, i have gone down hill.

tomorrow i will leave out any hc, until i feel my body wants some. if i become tired this is usually the sign.

Sometimes I find I need a bit more isocort at 5pm- I usually take 3 which I feel is equal to about 5mg hc- (I know there is supposed to be 2.5mg cortisone per pellet, but I do think it is less)- sometimes if I have been very active or had a stressful day, I’ll take 4- and that works better. If you are only taking 2.5 at 4pm perhaps this is not quite enough, especially if you have been very active. Just a thought.

Some times it’s hard to put you finger on this problem your thinking taking your HC at 4:30 after an active day made you feel this way but it’s not I went through this many times and when others to told me I needed more HC I just did not believe them. Until my
Dr. told me when I feel like this even after taking my last dose of the day to give it 15 min.’s If I don’t feel better add 5mgs more and keep doing this up to 20 mgs extra or until this fatigue stops it’s called stress dosing. I say this because this is what happens when one is doing extra work around the house or in the gym. You over did if and are in need of more HC and if this happens a lot then you need to up your dose I went from 20mgs a day to 25 this helped but I still needed to stress dose a lot of not do anything so I went up to 30 mgs a day this did it it’s my best dose.

My Dr. has me take my morning dose of cortef 10 mgs then do my fasting morning labs he tests my cortisol to be sure my adrenals are not shut down in to high a dose of HC. He says as long as my levels are showing I am making cortisol I am not over doing the dose.

I started on Isocort 8 pill is = to 20 mgs of Cortisol but from batch to batch I found some were not as strong as others. Then one time I ordered it and it was on back order one can’t do this you can go into shock not taking it all at once. So my Dr. put me on cortef it’s safer doing this the strength is the same from refill to refill.

Here is a link to a FAQ’s I helped with from the STTM web site every thing one needs to know is in this.

Wow if you were on HC doing 20 mgs a day or more your playing with fire coming off it all at once did your Dr. tell you to do this I don’t think so you are doing a very bad thing here taking your life into your own hands. I would not ever tell anyone to do this. You need to come down from taking HC slow like 2.5mg every 5 days.

i have said i was taking 2.5mg doses. i did this 3 x a day and then decreased to twice. my body was telling me i dont need it so i went down to 2.5mg a day. now zero. the most i have been on is 7.5mg a day.

still feeling great. if i tire then i will just add in 2.5mg in the afternoon as this is the time for me to take it.

update: no longer using HC and stopped using it 3 or so weeks ago.

feeling really well on T4 meds only. It seems i need a high T4 level to feel well.

still using adrenal dynamite and will be experimenting coming off it to see if my body still needs it. i think i do.

getting optimised for the first time in 16 yrs is a great feeling, but it will take time to do. for the last yr i have felt better on armour, but it has been levoT which has pushed me through to optimisation. on it now for 10 weeks and finding my correct dose which i think is around 137.5mcgs.
