I am curious as to starting dosages for 5HTP for someone with a serotonin deficiency. Ive heard of a well known product called NeuroReplete that contains a blend of Tyrosine , 5HTP and L Cysteine. They recommend beginning dosages of 150mg of 5HTP , 1500mg Tyrosine and 1000mg L Cysteine in the morning on an empty stomach and then again around 4PM.

Is this is a good way to try taking supplemented amino acids?

Generally, it is a good idea to start with 50 mg a day then move up once adverse effects are determined. Nausea, for example, is a common side effect.

    Here is a good review:

The usual psychiatric answer is “It depends.”

It depends on a person’s circumstances.
