Purple skin

The other day I bent over at the waist just a little bit. My head was about level with my stomach and a friend commented alarmingly at how purple my head was when I bent over (my hair is shaved).
Any ideas? I’ve always had a redish tint to my face and scalp but never purple.

Just as a side note: 41yo, male, currently under treatment for AF and hypothyroidism.

Off the cuff speculation:

Purpose scalp color may represent de-oxygenated blood which is pooling into the scalp when in an upside-down position.

The brain uses 20% of the oxygen brought into the body by the circulatory system. Thus perhaps the tendency for the blood coming out of the head to be purple in color.

Of course, usually I would expect the head to be reddish. Thus, perhaps there are additional problems with oxygenation or high use of oxygen in other parts of the body that would make the blood carry less oxygen than it should.

Ok, thanks. I believe this was just after eating supper. Maybe digestion had an effect. Although I often feel short of breath and find myself taking deep breaths to get that ‘satisfied’ feeling. Maybe I’m just plain out of shape, it has been a while since I’ve been able to exercise regularly.
