What do you think of the Marshall Protocol? The following is a quote from John Cannell, president of the Vitamin d Council and occassional speaker for the
Weston A. Price Foundation (WAPF):”In reading his two articles, Dr. Marshall’s main hypotheses are simple. (1) Vitamin D from sunlight is different than vitamin D from supplements. (2) Vitamin D is immunosuppressive and the low blood levels of vitamin D found in many chronic diseases are the result of the disease and not the cause. (3) Taking vitamin D will harm you, that is, vitamin D will make many diseases worse, not better. If you read his blog, you discover that the essence of the Marshall protocol is: “An angiotensin II receptor blocker medication, Benicar, is taken, and sunlight, bright lights and foods and supplements with vitamin D are diligently avoided. This enables the body’s immune system, with the help of small doses of antibiotics, to destroy the intracellular bacteria. It can take approximately one to three years to destroy all the bacteria.” That is, Dr. Marshall has his “patients” become very vitamin D deficient.”Is it possible that perhaps these patients are actually extremely deficiant in vitamin A from viral infections and when they take vitamin D it further depresses vitamin A as suggested by a Chapter Leader in “Wise Tradtions” a publication of the WAPF? Could they possibly be feeling better (temporarily) because they had vitamin D toxicity caused by the low vitamin A?
Thank you!

I hadn’t heard of it until a friend of mine told me about it. It sounds quite strange to me but wanted to know if anyone knew more about it than I do (which is hardly anything). I’m trying to keep an open mind for my friend’s sake.

October 1, 2009 at 2:08 pm #3479gu3varaMemberRead that :
I like his arguments against this protocol. Mentionning that someone nearly died of an adrenal crisis on it while it was supposed to be an herx reaction if enough to make me stay miles away from this.
Anyway, would you wear big sunglasses everyday for at least two years, what would people think of a nutjob doing that 😮

Many hypothyroid people can not convert betacarotene to vitamin A. We are actually start going to test people for retinol after being on vitamin D for a while at high dosages just to make sure we are not causing other imbalances. Vitamin D can also lower vitamin K I think I may contact a supplement company to make a supplement with all three in it at specific ratios in a emulsifed form. Vitamin D stimulates the immune system. I have a client in england that has an infection that every time he take some thing to stimulate his immune system he gets horrible die off which ends up weakening his HPTA. All hormone therapy has been tried in the past and has failed. Given him vitamin D makes his system worse.
October 2, 2009 at 9:37 pm #3485wapf fanMemberMy family daily takes fermented cod liver oil which has naturally occuring vitamins D and A and High Vitamin Butter Oil which has naturally occuring vitamin K because it is from cows eating “100% rapidly growing green grass”. The two have a synergistic effect when taken together. They are considered super foods.
