Is testing Histamine the best method to detemine under vs over methylation.
I need to dig deeper into my issues and have a pretty open minded Dr. Would like to know the best “off the shelf” blood tests for this.

Their is the NutrEval optimal nutritional evaluation at genova diagnostics and somebody like HAN can then interpret this for you to tell you where mutations lie and what can be done to override them with proper supplements.
Or you could do Methyl Cycle Gene testing which is on my to do list, this is the real stuff baby. Then you can personalise recommendations for yourself. They have a sample profile of a marathon runner on that page and they outline what they recommend for you. Have a look:

In regards to your question regarding immune system testing. You can do serum Immunoglobulin levels. Also lymphocyte typing – lymphocyte subsets.

December 27, 2009 at 11:32 pm #4033rehabman28MemberWhen dealing with methylation issues via taking 5-MTHF(Folinic acid), how much is too much? How dependent is it on the individual? I know Folinic acid uses B-12 as a cofactor, so I’m assuming too much could deplete B-12. Any thoughts?
December 28, 2009 at 7:22 am #4031MetalMXMemberWell whenever you are taking folinic acid you also want to take B12 with it, the reason being is that taking folic on its own can create a B12 deficiency. Thats why in medical textbooks it is noted that taking Folic Acid can mask a b12 deficiency and make blood parameters appear normal, thats why its not recommended.
I have used 10g of MethylB12 and 5mg of Folinic Acid per day. Then got down to 5mg B12, 2.5mg folinic then 2500mg b12, 1,250mg folinic. This was in the start when i was depleted in both and had to get my tissue levels up.
