    Hello,

I’m a 23 year old male from the Netherlands who has been dealing with low metabolism symptoms for over 2 years now. It was a pure coincidence discovering this website but I am glad I did as it has a lot of valuable information.

My story began with me adopting a stressful bodybuilding life style (eating as much as possible, training to exhaustion etc. ) two years ago, which eventually lead to me being very vulnerable to infections (sebb. eczema, athletes foot etc.). It delivered a huge blow to my self esteem which was essentially the catalyst to the problems I face today. I adopted a vegan life style which actually left me more depleted and depressed. I heavily taxed my adrenals on a daily basis to deal with the stress. It lead to the development of these symptoms:

    – SEVERE intolerance for cold
    – anxious
    – bad digestion (alot of burping etc when eating proteins)
    – reoccurring infections with fungus
    – back acne
    – thin, dry hair
    – dry skin
    – black circles under my eyes, sunken appearance
    – skipping heartbeats

(I actually don’t suffer from fatigue, insomnia or loss of libido)

I eventually connected the dots that I might suffer from adrenal fatigue. So I went to the doctor who was off course very skeptical and originally didn’t want to perform a blood test to measure my adrenal and thyroid output. After persuading him I had my blood tested but according to him all values were in the “normal” range . I wanted to do a follow up saliva test for my adrenals but he actually never heard of this and didn’t want to cooperate (the doctors over here are just really inexperienced when it comes to these problems). Now I’m actually planning to go overseas with my problems (probably Canada or the USA) to a experienced doctor who knows what he is talking about.

Anyways I’m lucky to have found this board and hopefully I will find the answer to my problems.

    Friendly greetings,

    Tim

    High Tim,

Your in the right place here can you post your labs with the units and ranges just ask for a copy. I talk to a lot of young men like your self that went on a bad diet and over did it in the gym. You need to test your Testosterone levels you might find them low also. I am talking to your 16 yr. old boy that has your same problems here in the USA and he can’t get to the right Dr.’s. He dose have low Testosterone and his 3x’s in a day saliva test is very low normal in the morning. When you had your Cortisol tested it should have been done in the morning a fasting blood test and if in my units here in the USA your 15 or lower you have a problem and need to do a 4x’s in a day saliva test. In this link are labs you can buy this test from in the UK and Aus*tra*lian labs show this to your Dr. to get him on board.
