I’m new to this forum and was wondering if anyone knows if being hypersensitive to sound is caused by high norepinephrine levels? I am currently dealing with adrenal insufficiency and have horrible insomnia. But lately it has gotten worse because any sound while trying to fall asleep is jolting – any creaking in the walls or even my own stomach gurgling. I can’t even listen to relaxation CD’s since any change in tone startles me. I have also been on a low carb diet (with plenty of fat, protein and veggies) for the last 4-5 weeks to help with blood sugar issues and wonder if this could be contributing. I take a PS based supplement at night to lower cortisol levels and have been trying 5-htp, melatonin and high doses of L-theonine and nothing seems to help. Any advice is greatly appreciated!
