Hi All,
I’m new, and thought I’d say hi and share what brought me here: I was 44 years old and 125 lbs. I got to 47 and suddenly I was tired, brain fog, irritable, horrible memory, weight gain (am now 170 lbs), horrible headaches, apathy, lack of interest in most everything. Yuck. I started Armour 2 weeks ago, feeling more energy, only the brain fog, memory and headache are worse, so I can’t remember what I was going to do now that I have energy to do it 🙂 I am hoping Pregnenolone and DHEA will help. Changed my diet quite a bit to remove gluten and that is helping a bit.Anyway, I’ve enjoyed reading thru the posts in the forum as well as Dr. Mariano’s writings. You all seem like a kind and compassionate group, and I appreciate your contributions.
I’ve seen other people post similar, so here are labs for thyroid:
TSH 5.77 H (.34-5.60)
T3 Rev 145 (90-350)
T3 Free 2.5 (2.39-6.79)
T3 Tot 0.92 (.8-2.0)
TPO <5 (0-60.0)
TgAb 433.7 H (0-25.0)
T4 Free 0.90 (0.58-1.64)
T4 Tot 6.7 (4.5-12.5)I look forward to getting to know you.
Kind Regards,

I am on a mess of meds I am Hypopituitary meaning my brain dose not tell my body to make enough hormones.Did you have your Cortisol levels checked first before starting on the Armour and what is your dose. If you do a morning fasting Cortisol blood test and it’s 15 or lower you need to do a 4x’s in a day Cortisol Slaiva test to see how your rhythm looks. Read this link on how I got started treating my Adrenals and Thyroid it works and takes time.

Your TgAb 433.7 H (0-25.0) test shows me you might have Hashimoto’s.Here is a good link on labs for this problem.

And this is good about Adrenals and Thyroid I helped do the FAQ’s in this link.

Magsthe answer is simple
1) you are taking caffine, calcium, or milk based products, high fiber or iron 2 hours near
thyroid meds reducing abosprption
2) You like 80% of people out there have inflammed gut, dybiosis and can not absorb or break down the binders.
3) Please check saliva cortisol 24 hour for adrenal function. Its not that complex of an issue.
if you are east coast i be glad to refer you to one of top people in this field.
If you are in cali go see dr mariano himself. i have refered other people to him for many years ..November 16, 2009 at 6:11 pm #3912MagsMemberthanks for your responses and ideas. I am east coast, won’t be able to see Dr. Mariano in the foreseeable future and sure, I would love a recommendation of someone on east coast!
I did do an adrenal test a couple of weeks ago, but I haven’t gotten the results back yet. I’ve called the doctor’s office to check on status. The doctors do seem to know what they are doing/looking for, but they are not good at letting me know what it is they are doing./looking for or why they are doing it, so I have to play detective to decipher what lab work they are doing and why. I would expect more from an office which has charged me a lot of $$$$$$$. They have given me zero guidance on taking the meds.
I have read that taking calcium with thyroid meds is a no-no, so I take meds on empty stomach, and wait at least an hour before eating. I have been having a cup of coffee or caffeinated herbal (not black) tea in the morning tho (no milk). oops. But really, how the heck am I supposed to get out of bed without caffeine?? :p
Regarding the high TgAb, I am a bit confused because most research I’ve read mentions TPO way more often than TgAb for Hashimoto’s. The doctor’s office I am going to did not seem overly concerned one way or another. Actually, they didn’t say a whole lot about thyroid treatment. We spent way more time discussing the bill.
I am starting to wonder if I should see an endocrinologist. What do y’all think? Endo who is in health insurance with a reasonable reputation, or very knowledgable but arrogant and expensive doctor’s office who has good reputation but is not in insurance?
