I would like to understand what is going on with me, I’m quite sick with hypothyroidism and hypogonadism (along with low DHEA and estrogens) and low adrenals but somehow, my libido is through the roof, I think about sex very often, much more than before I was sick and specially more since I weaned off Celexa last autumn (it was really low when I was on SSRI). I would like it to be a bit less tbh, I feel I can’t control myself.
However, my erections are often weak, no surprise with hypogonadism, but the libido is big and I have trouble controlling ejaculation often, which is quite new for me. I’m thinking it has something to do with high dopamine/low serotonin
I now seem to have quite a low mood with insomnia since I started testosterone shots 3 weeks ago, but the libido is still there oddly, nothing will stop it.
I’m not yet optimized on my thyroid either so I’m guessing it’s all interconnected.
I’m sometimes thinking I should go back to taking a very low dose of Celexa but I refrain because I believe hormones and nutritional deficiencies (low EFA, low B12, low ferritin, low vitamin D) will be the answer in the long run.
Any clue on this excessive libido thing, could it be related to neurotransmitters imbalance? I seem too have an increased reaction to stimulus too, my ears and my skin are more sensitive.
Thx for helping sorting this puzzle 😎

It’s the change in your hormone levels doing this some men there body reacts this way and it levels off in time. I would not do SSRI drugs with low Testosterone for me they made my testosterone levels worse. Give it some time you need to get your levels up say into the upper 1/3 of your labs range for a young man and keep your Estradiol down to about 20 pg/ml. Doing and keeping leveled your body will start to undo the damage done by low Testosterone. Also a lot of men with low testosterone suffer from Thyroid and low Cortisol levels get them up also this helps you to feel better. I came across a good web site by Dr. Gorden at this site you can read about low T and watch his Videos.

I think I had to have heart by pass sugary due to having low Testosterone for so long and not getting it treated I went some 6 yrs not feeling well and being treated for Depression on every kind of AD med out there before finding out I am not depressed but have low Testosterone. So have your heart checked.July 8, 2009 at 5:10 pm #2567gu3varaMemberI had an heart echo done 2 years ago and there was a little thickening somewhere, doctor wasn’t preoccupied by it but he said it might have something to do with low hormones indeed. He was mostly thinking about thyroid, not hypogonadism (which was not diagnosed at that point)
I had 27 years old back then so that’s quite disturbing to hear that at that age 😮
The high libido started before the TRT with clear hypogonadism (total T of 190), so that’s quite confusing, two things happened few weeks before
1 – I stopped Remeron as my sleeping pill in november ’08 and was off all other AD for 6 months too.
2 – I started taking 50 mg Lugol 2 weeks before.
So I’m guessing it’s coming from one of those. Maybe AD or Iodine changes something in my neurochemistry? like increased sensitivity to dopamine? I absolutely don’t know what I’m talking about here 😀
Anyway, I think I’ll get some relief with testosterone, it’s been only 3 weeks so that’s still quite new. I now have early morning erections every day now, so it’s certainly working.
The cream I was on before T shots gave me the wood only once every 5 days I would say, because of hypothyroidism, I wasn’t absorbing it like you said or the dose was too small.Somehow, I feel a bit depressed, like wanting to cry for nothing and have trouble sleeping recently, I’m thinking hypothyroidism is back, I just got it tested this morning and I’m ready to increase my armour.
Balancing hormones is complicated…!
