As far as I know:
DHEA can both stimulate testosterone and estrogen receptors. By doing so, it can change the amount of free thyroid hormone. For example, by stimulating estrogen receptors, it can increase thyroid binding globulin (TBG) production from the liver. TBG then reduces free thyroid hormone. Stimulating testosterone receptors would do the opposite – increasing free thyroid hormone.
DHEA is also the precursor for Testosterone and Estradiol/Estrone. These would have stronger effects on TBG production.
DHEA is also the precursor for 7-Keto DHEA – in very small amounts. 7-Keto DHEA would help T4 to T3 conversion.
