I been dealing with severe constipation for the past 6 years and nothing has been able to resolve it. I have tried every possible remedy out there and nothing has resolved it completely.
Causes I have come up with
1. Fiber – rule out 30 grams a day 50% soluable 50% insoluable
2. EFA imbalances – Fats are balanced in 4:1 ratio and also taking in sat fats from organic butter and also EVCO, animal fats from beef.
3. Hormones – Potential causes (low thyroid. high estrodial) When I get over 3.3 FT3 I am good, but with this change in armour formulation it knocked me for a loop.
4. neurotransmitters – This is where I think it lies, but more so not for receptors but malasirption
5. Gut inflammation- THIS IS THE CAUSE IMO due to excess of bad bacteria that has never resolved.
6. nutrients deficiency- Nutrients are supplied through clean diet and supplementation
Electrolyte imbalance may be possible as get about 2000 mgs of potassium a day and higher sodium because of low adrenals.
7. hidden celiac –When dealing with constipation how are the neurotransmitters involved in gut motility?
Can too much or not enough norephinepherine shut down the digestive tract?I have had urine test done all have come back flat lines low with dopamine, adrenaline, norephipherine, serotonin. GABA and PEA where only ones that where normal. Each year I do them they are getting lower and lower.
Thanks for all the help
July 11, 2009 at 12:00 am #2602The450ManMemberIve heard some people say that 5htp works well. Its said to convert to serotonin before it hits the BBB (9:1) increasing peripheral levels stimulating the gut….
Im sure u knew that already though lol
July 11, 2009 at 1:09 am #2600MetalMXMemberDo you use SAMe or p5p to increase catecholamines/serotonin?
My chronic constipation started to begin being relieved after i began those methylation supplements you recommended.
Other than that It would seem Parasites/Hidden Infections would cause this kind of constipation on a long-term basis. Due to the toxins they release.
It could also be due to reduced Peristalsis.
I know Epsom Salts helped with my constipation a while back.
July 11, 2009 at 2:38 am #2605ssavannaMemberI also have been plagued with constipation . I tried everything ,eventually I found a supplement called Oxypowder that contains ozonated magnesium oxides that slowly releases oxygen into the digestive tract. I cant recommend it enough, it is the only thing that works.
I combine it with Cape Aloe, both of which don’t have any risk of dependency and work extraordinarily well. If you’ve tried as many different things as I have its definitely worth a shot.
July 11, 2009 at 2:53 am #2598hardasnails1973MemberI have tried oxypowder in the past it worked years ago but now does nothing. One must have good flora for oxypowder to work and stomach acid. I have going to run my own experiment as I may have figure why I have wilson disease like readings in my blood report and why copper serum is not budging despite supplementation. Going to run catecholamines fractional plasma along with tyrtophanserum, tyrosine and phenylalaine serums, copper serum, and ceruloplasmin. Now that I found evidence that adrenaline is need for secretion of ceruloplamsin from the liver. This combination of these test will tell me am I absorbing the precursors (giving signs to malasborption) to make the catecholamines? If my adrenaline is low and ceruloplasmin is low then it will tell me why my copper is not getting proper ulitzed.
If my tyrosine levels are low take more tyrosine (look into the gut issue).July 11, 2009 at 3:25 am #2604mylilcappiMemberYogurt.. give it a shot..
Activia will give you your money back if if does not work within 2 wks. LOL
seriously, try yogurt everyday for a while…
July 11, 2009 at 3:57 am #2599hardasnails1973MemberI eat home made organic coconut kefir every day makes yogurt look like a joke.
In Yogurt most bacteria are dead by the time they get to the store unless you make it your self.
If your gut is inflamed then all the probioitics in the world will not help. I spent over 400 dollars for highest potency known as still got nothing out of them because my wall was inflamed. When it comes to nutrition I have the most nutrient dense diet which only .1 of the population consumes. I get more nutritional value in my breakfast then most people get in several days of “normal eating” fortified does not count. My eating patterns are based on Weston Price principles. Non processed no sugar, little fruit but high anti oxident berries, low grain, moderate protein, moderate fat, low carb with higher vegetable content, 50% sat fats coming from cocconut kefir, EVCCO, animal meat, organic butter, and other is from presprouted nuts and seeds, with certain nut buttters. With all the healthy issues I got going on i contribute my 10 year younger look to proper eating and stress reduction exercises (mediation, relaxation tapes, ect)When ever I stop glutamine I fall apart because the gut uses it up at a high rate. I will feel the effects in matter of a few days as bloating and constipation comes back. I do about 20 grams a day with no problem. It has nothing but positive benefits for my self.
As soon as I stop it my weight drops like a rock and I go hypoglycemic really fast. I do not like to loose weight my pet peeve.I am having a histamine response at night time because my eyes start to water around the time iI get ready for bed. Even washing them out with water does not help one bit.

I like your diet. I have found i have also been craving/eating the foods you have mentioned although at first it didn’t read it anywhere or research or follow any guidelines My body just told me “no grains”, little fruit, nut butters, EVCO, meats, and vegetables.
What am i wondering is with genetic mutations and disease, can you overcome your disease?
Lets say you have malabsorbtion syndrome and this is due to a genetic mutation. You do genetic testing and you find out where those mutations are and what supplements you can use to override them, could these supplements be the lifelong cure to prevent the malabsorbtion or what?
You can’t change your DNA but you can use supplements to make your DNA work better. Hopefully in the future we can fix our DNA and we can all have exceptional health.
July 11, 2009 at 4:24 pm #2606ssavannaMemberHave you thought of colon hyrdotherapy? Its really not as bad as people think and it makes people who have constipation issues feel one hundred times better. I try to get two per month.

Do you have IBS??
Have you tried AGIOLAX from Madaus?? major helper, probably the best for irritable bowel syndrome
http://www.madaus.de/Agiolax.173.0.html (not intention to advertise, just to help- it helped me get back in normal rhythms for many many years)
too complicated to tell about neurotransmitters and gut. I think serotonin causes constipation unless in high doses. Norepinephrine causes peristaltic stimulation, so drinking some strong coffee might help, but it all has to do with proper HPTA function, if thyroid doesnt work optimally then it is a problem. I had serious IBS for years but managed to get better with exercise, proper diet and the agiolax. Weight lifting helps surely.
Doesnt armour help you ???
I was hoping to solve my constipation problems for once and for all with proper armour supplementation. Also some antibiotics helped me sometimes, but they are not the solution. IBS is a low grade inflammatory situation, ive done biopsies and it shows elements of chronic unspecific constipation
