Dr. M told me that I’m craving carbs because my liver is not giving my brain enough glucose. Or I think that is what he said. Can anyone tell me why my liver is doing that and what to do about it? Or is my treatment for thyroid and adrenals addressing that? Thanks for any input.

Your question is confusing to say the least.

I think their are a number of reasons why you would be having carb cravings. Such as Low Serotonin levels or Nutrient deficiencies. Thyroid problems can cause excessive hunger i know i have cravings for things which i couldnt shake on synthetic meds for my hashimoto’s once i switched to dessicated thyroid this disappeared. I think this can also be related to serotonin levels improving with dessicated thyroid as opposed to the synthetics this is just my theory but i know when i was feeling depressed and having sugar cravings now no sugar cravings and feeling nice and happy all with just a change of thyroid meds.

Are these cravings beyond what you would normally eat in your diet? If they are simply due to inadequate food intake then that would make sense, you just need the extra energy.

If you we’re on a low-carb diet for a long time (you could just start slowly switching macronutrients so including more carbs while reducing the protein/fat you are eating it’s just common sense.
