What is the difference between folonic acid, folate, and folic acid?
October 22, 2009 at 8:09 pm #3798wapf fanMemberchipdouglas,
My husband is as good as cured. He still takes medication and supplements although not all of them will be for life. He was severely depressed, had extreme anxiety, no interest in anything, history of cutting himself at one point, and talked about death a lot. After 3 days on thyroid meds he was much improved and over the past year is 100% improved. He is full of joy and laughter, loves life now and looks like a vision of health! He has a few small issues that we have complete confidence will be cured as well. Dr. M is awesome! There is hope for us all!

Folate and folic acid are basically the same thing.
Folinic Acid is the active form of Folate for people who have a known MTHFR – Methyltetrahydrofolate Reductase Gene Mutation. It doesn’t require any metabolic conversion in the body as does regular folate.

I’m sorry to hear how you are feeling. Your symptoms are similar to my husband’s. Dr. M suggested a book called Adrenal Fatigue by James Wilson because one of the problems my husband had was adrenal fatique along with low thyroid and miriad other things. I don’t know, of course, if that is the case with you but you could check Dr. Wilson’s website (adrenalfatigue.org) to look at the symptoms and see if it sounds like you. There are a lot of things you can do yourself to combat adrenal fatigue. My neighbor borrowed our book and is feeling fabulous now just on her own. Some people need a little more help from someone like Dr. M. (my husband needed a doctor’s help although the book was invaluable). But it is worth a try to at least make some changes that could help and won’t hurt. You can get better. Are you in California?November 9, 2009 at 3:24 am #3791The450ManMemberna im pa near Pittsburgh
November 9, 2009 at 1:45 pm #3789MetalMXMemberIt took me a whole year to figure out what was my main problems we’re a underlying adrenal insufficency and hashimoto’s thyroiditis.
After starting thyroid for thyroiditis these adrenal symptoms developed – chronic fatigue, muscle weakness, constant thirst, salt cravings, shortness of breath, apathy, little appetite.
Today i felt so bad i had to go to the ER i had non pitting edema up to shins, chest pain, shortness of breath, sinus bradycardia and feeling very weak. And hilar congestion in my chest on chest x-ray.
Waiting for some more results before i see an endo in a weeks time.
These two diseases have kept my life on hold till the age of 20 as i am now. I finally see a new beginning to my life very soon with a million things going through my mind i want to do/complete.
No matter how big a problem you have you can get to the bottom of your issues. All you have to have is the willpower to keep searching for the answers and not get frustrated and lose hope or give up.
