I believe that you are a supporter of raising levels of stored iron to a level reading higher than average. However, there are several studies such as http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/1997/09/970901072035.htm that support the “iron hypothesis” because male blood donors have a much lower incidence of cardiac incidents. The most plausible explanation is that donating blood lowers the level of circulating iron (a very pro-oxidant element). In this light it would appear that lowering levels of iron is preferable to raising it. Any comments?
