Hi, everyone! New here but I’ve been reading the forum some and it seems like a great place! I’ve heard good things about Dr. Mariano as well! I wish I didn’t live so far away.

I dug out some old and recent bloodwork that I had done, and am hoping that some of you might want to post your thoughts on it. Any and all thoughts/opinions will be greatly appreciated!

Let me give a little info about myself: I’m 27 years old, I weigh about 170 pounds and I’m pretty active….lift weights about 3-4 days per week and I follow a healthy diet. Around age 9 I was infected with Lyme’s disease (I bring this up because I’ve been told by a doctor that he often sees low DHEA and Thyroid levels in his Lyme patients). I took antibiotics for about 4 months, but since then I’ve always had an increased need for sleep, requiring about 9-10 hours of sleep a night in order to feel rested and not feel tired throughout the day. Around age 18 I started having lots of anxiety and depression issues and developed social phobia, OCD, and had depression to varying degrees. A year ago I started taking Lexapro for the depression and then a few months later added Wellbutrin to the mix. The combination has been working very well and I no longer have depression. In the couple of years leading up to the point when I decided to start on the anti-depressants, I had made considerable progress on my own towards getting rid of my social phobia and OCD (I took a job as a waiter :Dwhich helped immensely), but I feel like when I added the anti-depressants in they also helped make me a more calm and less anxious person in general. So overall I’ve had great results.

But now I’ve decided it’s time that I get all of my hormones tuned up and running smoothly! Below are bloodwork results spanning a period of 9 years. I’ve had more tests than these done, but I’ve mostly just posted the ones pertaining to the Adrenals and Thyroid since that looks to be where some problems may be at. If this were your bloodwork would you want your doctor to prescribe you thyroid hormones?

Oh I forgot to mention that the main reason I had the recent bloodwork done was because I realized that I was consistently running a morning temperature of 96.2-96.4. Although later in the day it does go higher sometimes reaching about 98.4, maybe 98.6 if it’s hot out and I’ve been active shortly before.

I realize that’s alot to read so let me give you guys the Cliff Notes version of the test results from what I can see:

    From age 19-20

TSH is consitantly high- between 3 to 5.5

Both free T3 and free T4 are Mid to mid/upper range

No tests were done for total T3/T4

DHEA is at the bottom of the range

    Fast forward to age 27-

TSH is still high (3.3 to 4.2)

I had total T3 and total T4 tested for the first time and they are both at the bottom of the range.

    Free T4 is midrange

    Free T3 is bottom/midrange

DHEA at bottom of the range

My comments- It seems that what is going on is that my pituitary is sending out high TSH because my thyroid gland isn’t putting out enough thyroid hormones. My body has tried to compensate for the low output of thyroid hormones by keeping thyroxine binding globulins low in order to free up as much T3/T4 as possible. Early on this worked ok and I was reaching mid/upper range levels of free T3/T4. Now that I’m older my thyroid gland is crapping out even more and is putting out even less total thyroid hormone so even with the reduced thyroid binding globulin levels I’m now only reaching low/midrange levels of free thyroid hormones.

As far as the low DHEA, I don’t know what is going on with that…..
