The price of Lugol’s Solution recently increased at my local compounding pharmacy from $21 to $35 (15 ml bottle) of which I apply 4 drops to my skin at night. For those of you familiar with the uses of Lugol’s Solution, which in my case it is used to help support my Thyroid. I have HPA dysregulation (also know as Adrenal Fatigue for some people) and I also have various other hormonal imbalances, Mental Health issues, Chronic Fatigue, and more, which many of us on this site may have in common in various degrees. My point today in this post is basically to let everyone know that is concerned about the cost increase of Lugol’s solution and I would like to share with you all briefly as to the why the cost went up, as was explained to me by the Pharmacist at my local Compounding Pharmacy.
When I asked him why my prescription cost went up from last month at $21, and which now cost’s me $35……the Pharmacist told me something which totally surprised me and at the same time got me a little pissed off 😡 He said that Methamphetamine Maker’s use Lugol’s solution for the chemical separation and/or for the iodine/potassium chemical combination during the manufacturing of “Methamphetamine” in illegal “Meth Labs” which has apparently affected the supply and demand/shortage of availability etc….. resulting in the consumer (me) having to pay more for this type of iodine solution which I use medicinally for legitimate purpose, as prescribed by my doctor. Whether or not it is true what this Pharmacist told me today is the one and only “True reason” the price went up, I simply don’t know for sure. I haven’t posted lately, and by letting out this little bit of frustration I have over the cost increase of “My Medication” due to stupid “Meth Lab Jerks” I feel a little better by relieving my frustration on this keyboard as I type away with “Increased Pressure” on the keyboard !
Ok. I feel better now. Just wanted to share this little bit of info regarding Lugol’s solution for those who may also be prescribed it and paying more for it now. That’s it for now.
