Hi,
I’m struggling with a lot of problems since a couple of years, CFS, hypogonadism, hypothyroidism and anxiety (with a bit a low mood that comes and goes, but no major depression). I’m getting close to a good hormonal balance, it should be decent in a couple months.
I’m quite sensitive to stress and still struggle with anxiety on a daily basis, I have a hard time concentrating, reading a book is difficult, I can’t stop thinking about anything, my health is a major concern. I feel a bit hyperactive even though I’m always tired.
It seemed to be worse lately when I became hyperthyroid. I reduced dose a bit and 3 weeks later it’s still not great. I will retest soon to see if I’m still hyper, which I think is likely.
My DHEA levels are now close to zero with cortef and TRT, I’m starting on pills to bring it up, I heard it could help anxiety.
I would like to cope with anxiety without synthetic molecules but I’m keeping the door open to it, I want to do anything it takes to get my health back. I’ve been on plenty AD over the past 4 years and I’ve not been taking any for a year and a half. I tried Remeron, Celexa, Paxil, Effexor, Wellbutrin, Elavil and I had a hard time tolerating them, probably because I’m sick. The most bearable was Celexa, I can’t say I helped a lot for anxiety though, a bit but not much. It did help mood but at the price of being insensitive, not really cool for my wife.
So I’m thinking of Buspar as I don’t really want to experiment with another antidepressant and don’t want to take benzos on a daily basis, I take one very occasionally. I heard it’s good for mild to moderate anxiety. I trust Dr M knowledge so I figured I’d ask here if Buspar would be a good choice.
Is there any problems taking it with my HRT, will it mess up with my thyroid hormones… what is a good dose etc…
I’m quite sure my doc would prescribe it to me for a try out, but he’s not a specialist in psych meds so I’m gathering info as I don’t have access to a psychiatrist.
Any help would be much appreciated,
Thx!September 11, 2009 at 12:41 pm #3403gu3varaMemberanyone? 😉
