Anyone know what may cause fatty lipomas to form? The doc says they are hereditary. I have them in my upper and lower arms, thigh/hams and abdomen. I’ve had about 10 cut out over the years just because they were on the bone or were getting sensitive and to make sure they weren’t anything cancerous. My diet is good overall. Good fats, lots of protein and stay away from sugar for the most part. Typical bodybuilder type of diet. I’d like to not have them grow anymore. As I get leaner they show more. Sort of embarrasing.
Any ideas??
Thanks

They can be irritating to have. One person I know had one in his back that sometimes impaired sitting. Another had it on her forehead. It wasn’t noticeable enough to move.
Unfortunately, many times, the tendency for getting lipomas is inherited. Sometimes it occurs with trauma. Most of the time, the cause is not known.
Here is a good article: http://dermnetnz.org/lesions/lipoma.html

I’ve done as much web browsing as there is to be had on them and couldn’t really find anything else either. Fortunately, I don’t have any bigger than a quarter in diameter unless the get grouped together. Not a huge deal overall since most are always out of sight under my clothesAugust 1, 2009 at 5:36 pm #2984hardasnails1973MemberCould these be related to fibrocystic disorder females have? If some iodine may help. Just tossing it out there

I have something similar with a twist.
LipoSarcoma.
The Sarcoma part is interesting.
I have it in my left thigh.
It was a size and about shape of a quart of milk when they took it out.
In Sep 09 will be 4 years, behaves ok, so far.
====================================Not really sure how Lipoma and LipoSarcoma are related.
Are you using GH (Growth Hormone)
If yes, how long.
Any change if frequency or appearance or any other change in Lipoma’s behavior since you started GH?
====================================My GH (or rather IGF-1) is low, I would like to consider GH but not sure.

Have use some cheap pro hormones in the past (19-nor) but never any steroids or HGH. I first noticed the lump long before I ever used any sort of supplement. The biggest one I had removed was from my side. It didn’t seen that big but was golf ball size once it was removed.
