I am wondering what are the causes that add to someone having a really poor metabolism. I myself am 6″3 and about 198lbs and i eat very little and don’t have much of an appetite. I would estimate my calorie intake is about 700-900 calories a day depending on the day.
Besides low thyroid function (hashimoto’s) what could be other contributing factors?

1. Starvation reduces metabolism as the body tries to save what little weight it has. For example, thyroid signaling is reduced by starvation.
2. Poor nutrition impairs metabolism.
3. Etc.

But i am not attempting to eat very little. It is just my appetite that is low.
I supplement with methylb12, folinic acid, P5P. As well as magnesium, B vitamin Complex, manganese, molybdenum, zinc. I also have just started getting again Intravenous Vitamin C 30g with B vitamins and trace minerals and glutathione. I also use Hemp Seed Oil, evening primrose Oil and extra virgin coconut oil for EFA’s. + Use an Aminoplex freeform amino acid supplement + Acai berries powder in a concentrate. So i think my nutrition is decent.
I should also mention that i have a mild chronic gastritis for whatever reason.
Although In 2005 i went from really overweight about 125kgs to underweight at 70kgs. I then had struggled with inability to lose weight 2007 when i was about 105kgs and doing bodybuilding when i had high T.S.H, and significantly elevated thyroid peroxidase antibodies. I tired T4 100mcg which the endocrinologist gave me but after a week i felt even worse than before then i got off it.
Doesn’t low cortisol cause poor appetite?
and what other hormones influence BMR?
And why is it that we have those skinny people who eat 6 times a day fast food and don’t gain weight and a person similar to them but who eats 1 meal a day…. is it all hormones and diet or is it genetic
